to market, to market

fall market weekend in new york, anna-louise and i went together this time. really fun and busy trip, outside of work we ate at great places, exercised and hung out with famiy and friends.

two things to note, both about hands.

this ring is by gaia repossi, my favorite jewelry designer right now. yd says it looks like "lady gaga for jcpenney" but what does he know, he's been wearing the same waffle knit penguin hoodie since 2001.
this was on the ride home. an older black man wearing a navy blue pajama suit and giant fur coat sat next to me. pinky rings, short fro to boot. i wish i could have taken a better shot but i was trying to be covert. you can see the plume of fur, longish nails and printed silk pants. he was the type of person you see boarding that prompts you to immediately glance at the empty seat next to you to calculate the odds of him ending up there. his coat covered about a third of my body the entire way home, it was really horrifying, stifling, and i will never forget him. and also for this reason, i will now avoid riding coach when traveling to and from big cities. thanks snoop dogg sr.

when in asia, do as the asians do

em and i went to visit paul, kristine, evan, habujee and halmunee. we went to eat vietnamese for lunch and then went to the asian supermarket for some groceries.

evan, em, (faux) mickey, some dangerous power cords in front of a backdrop filled with boxes of rice.
 walking with samchun and cousin
stationary school bus, two steering wheels and a kid freaking out in the background. perfect sense.
my own kid freaking out, carrying to the car with her hands immobilized because she won't stop hitting me. (note to self, remember why you only wear your sweatshirt and cut off exercise pants at home. because it looks horrible anywhere else.)
by the way, we (asians) don't always go to eat at an asian restaurant and shop at asian grocery stores. duh, costco sells kimchi.

you're six, but i'm everybody

for my second mom-powered craft (valentines day), I decided to keep it simple, unlike my overachieving halloween treat.

I did feel dissonant about giving dum dums to 2 year olds but went with the idea. I suppose everyone else went with it too, as I found out when em brought her bag of goodies home. ring pop? gummy trolls? skittles?
and what, pray tell, are these? hopefully not cocaine.
on a brighter, less juvenile diabetes related note, she also got a book from rah rah and papa to mark the day.
