the white house should not be decorated in pottery barn, nor do i think that it's right for its inhabitants to wear j.crew. this is a disaster...

late to work, again, but...

phase one of spring planting is complete. a few more herbs, a few more veggies left. i have been ready to post pictures for about a week but it's been raining non stop. good for the garden, but not for photos.

in addition, i will be posting images of house renovations as they happen. garage, fence and gate, gutters, landscaping and patio cover. our sweet, very old, very senile, very pigeon-toed neighbor, mary, will probably come over a few times to ask what i'm doing or how long i've lived here or who i am.

luck of the IRA

well, no party, but i made the bailey's irish cream bundt cake and shared it with some friends. the cake is better than it sounds (or looks)...

bundt cake walk

can someone have a st patrick's day party? i have two cake recipes that i think will be perfect! key lime cupcakes and a bailey's irish cream cake. i'm not much for themed holidays, usually. i'm telling you, something (amazing) has happened to me since i turned 30.

ps the sun is threatening to come out for the first time in 8 days. nice!

four reales

the blackberry is back. last week the usb port decided to give out so i had no way to charge it. a friend was nice enough to let me borrow an old phone. it was pink with rhinestones. yeah. an oriental folk tune chimed every time i got a text. not amazing.

but now, i am back in action looking like a pretentious technology slave, thank heavens.

thanks to amazon.com for sending me a charging pod over the weekend. i forgot how much i love to use punctuation when i text!

the not so secret garden

to celebrate daylight savings time, i went on a bike ride at 545pm just because i could. standard time really drives me crazy. i think it makes me grumpy, gives me insomnia and makes me feel fat. during daylight savings time, you have enough light to read a short story by a window after work. you can go on a bike ride or a run and have sun on the drive home. daylight savings to me also means one thing. time to garden...this is my second season with the lemon tree, maybe we'll have fruit this time! i've already planted cilantro, dill and basil, and i'm eager to get my hands on salad greens, kale, cucumbers and cantaloupe (more herbs too). yes, marcy, i am going to try tomatoes again, although i don't have very high expectations...more to come...!

the watchtower

watchmen was good! i found it amazing that the movie attempted to match many of the freeze frames in the novel. it is a visual feast. i wish they would have had time to go into hollis mason' s book, but it was almost 3 hours as is so it was probably good that it wasn't included. i can see how one would get lost/disinterested if you didn't read the novel. and, the dangling neon blue weiner was a little distracting.
